Give Us The Meat!
Our ministry has been going through Alpha Course for the last how-many weeks.  We have one last session this upcoming Saturday and the Celebration Cookout the weekend after.  Almost done! Before we began Alpha Course, there were questions of how it would go.  It was something brand new for us all and we did not know what to expect.  We just knew it has been a valuable tool for many many churches...

Church | Community | Family
Definition from Mars Hill Church website The local church is a community of regenerated believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord. In obedience to Scripture they organize under qualified leadership, gather regularly for preaching and worship, observe the biblical sacraments of baptism and communion, are unified by the Spirit, are disciplined for holiness, and scatter to fulfill the great...

How Accurate Is The Bible?
We began Alpha Course this past Saturday and the topic was “Who Is Jesus?”  Some of the teaching and subsequent discussions touched upon the validity of the Bible.  Considering we base our faith and lives upon the content of this book called The Holy Bible, it really is a valid question to ask and investigate. I was browsing through the C.S. Lewis Institute website and came across...

Loved Us To Death
I’m sure many of us are familiar with that phrase “love you[it,him, her] to death” and perhaps even used it or use it sometimes.  I never really gave the phrase much thought.  I always automatically perceived it as the receiver of the love receiving death, due to excessive love.  But when I recently thought about the phrase in relation to Christ, wow, it definitely gives it a new...

Rejoicing In It All
1 Peter 4:12-13 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice insofar as you share Christ’s sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed. While we wish life was full of smiley faces, hearts, and high fives all the time, we know its definition would be...

The Purpose of the Church
The theme of this Fall semester has been Church as Community as Family.  We have been exploring what exactly the Church is according to the Bible.  We’ve been tackling important questions like “Do we need to go to Church?”, “What/Who is it for?”, “What is the purpose?”, and more. It’s been wonderful as we have been allowing the New Testament to...

A Little Somethin', Somethin'
This past Oikos Meeting, Mike wonderfully shared his intentions to design and build a unique website for our church.  I am especially excited to see that happen in the upcoming weeks/months.  In the meantime, I figured why not come up with a little somethin’ for our Oikos.  Somethin’ simple but useful in connecting us even more.  With all the web space out there, it’s about time...
